Eddie Vogel (PhD Student), Morrison Lab

"Investigating primary blast-induced functional changes within organotypic hippocampal slice cultures"

Speaker Bio:
Edward received his BS in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland in College Park in 2011.  He previously worked with the US Army Research Laboratory to develop computational models of bomb blast exposures.  He received his MS from Columbia University and currently researches blast-induced traumatic brain injury.

Presentation Summary:
My research investigates various functional processes after blast injury and works to identify molecular mechanisms behind injury-induced functional deficits.  This knowledge may impact military helmet design, mandatory rest periods after injury, and therapeutic potential of certain molecules.
