Synapses and circuits; axon pathfinding and synaptogenesis; cell specification and differentiationResearch in our laboratory focuses on three important questions relevant to brain development and aging:

I-  What are the cellular and molecular mechanisms patterning neocortical connectivity during mammalian development?

II- What are the genetic mechanisms that led to the evolution of the human neocortex?

III- What are the signaling mechanisms underlying synaptic loss during early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease?

We think that providing answers to these important questions will improve our understanding of the developmental mechanisms underlying socially-devastating neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or schizophrenia as well as neurodegenerative diseases.
